Ever wonder what it feels like being suspended about 450 feet about the water and taking in all the views that Cape May County and Atlantic County has to offer? You can find out by strapping yourself in a parasail and taking off. It is truly a feeling like no other. Parasailing has become very popular at the Jersey Shore in past years because it is loved by the young and old alike. Many families share this experience together because it takes little effort and only some bravery to soar high above the water. But the rewards are extreme. You can find parasailing up and down the beach resorts all along the Jersey Shore. From Cape May and Wildwood to Beach Haven and Barnaget Bay, tourist and locals are all enjoying the pleasure of soaring above the waters and taking in the views of the coast. Prices vary, but the average price ranges from $70 to $90 per session and the length of time you soar is usually about 15 minutes. For adventure and family fun, try parasailing. You’ll be glad you did it.

“It’s a store. It’s a school. It’s a playground for cooks” This is what the new Viking School located in one of Atlantic City’s hottest casino’s boost itself as being in their new ads. As you meander down Harrah’s walkway with it’s stores, restaurants, and “The Pool”, your eyes will catch the stainless steel ovens and prep tables of “Viking Cooking School”. This classroom for people who love to cook is enclosed by glass walls so passerby’s can get a glimpse of the work in progress going on.
With many classes offered, there is something for everyone. Most classes last three hours and include dining on your feast at the end with other classmates. Prices range from $75.00 to $119.00, which is a great deal considering you get to dine on your own creations and learn from a top chef how to prepare courses you will be able to share with family and friends.
When looking at the class selections, there were not many that I would not want to participate in, that is, if I liked to cook. But I am fortunate enough to have a wife that loves to cook, so I’m signing her up. Options include Steak, Roast, & Chop workshop, Italian alfresco dinner party, Date night, a dinner to remember, Fish Cookery, French Dinner Party, and many many more.
The Jersey Shore is lucky to have such an option come to Atlantic City. Offering more options than gambling andthe Casino life will bring more diverse people to the South Jersey Shore. The Viking Store is something to offer that no other casino or resort in Atlantic County has. It will bring in more business for Harrah’s and Atlantic City tourism. If you have the desire to up your cooking to another level, The Viking Store is for you. For more information, you can log into www.vikingcookingschool.com.

When you think of Atlantic City New Jersey and the Gambling capital of the East, you wouldn’t have thoughts of a tropical oasis with warm weather all year round. Well, think again. Harrah’s Casino and Resort, located on the Marina in Atlantic City New Jersey has an indoor “Pool” area like you have never seen.
“The Pool” as it is known is a domed oasis within Harrah’s resort area. This adult only pool is surrounded by lush tropical gardens and cabannas, lounge chairs and everything you would find in a tropical setting. Opened twelve months per year, this domed covered oasis is a balmy tropical temperature every day, regardless of the weather outside. Tropical drinks are served from the bar, and music, if not live bands or DJ’s are piped in from many of the surrounding speakers.

This relaxing oasis is enjoyed by adults of every age during the day. You can sit in any of areas offered in a lounge chair, or comfortable seats with cushions that make you want to nod off and sleep, or you can rent a private cabanna and take a nap and enjoy the peaceful tranquility. Around 4:00 PM, the pool starts to transform into a party atmosphere when the music starts to pick up the beat and fun and games begin.
In the later hours of the evening, during all weekends and many weeknights, “The Pool” becomes one of the hottest spots along the Jersey Shore. The party starts to rev up into full gear and the night goes on into early morning. “The Loft”, which is located above “The Pool” opens another avenue of partying into the night.
Harrahs Oasis by the sea, “The Pool” is a definite attraction that brings many to Atlantic City. You can gamble at this newly renovated resort, but you also have the option of relaxing or partying all night long. Come to Harrah’s in Atlantic City and see for yourself.

Of all the Jersey Shore resort areas that have seen change over the years, Atlantic City N.J. has probably seen the most. In the early days of the 1900’s, Atlantic City was a popular tourist attraction with its boardwalk and beautiful ocean views.

Vacationers would come from miles around to stroll down the Avenue’s of shopping and see all the sights that walked the boardwalk.

The Steel Pier was a major attraction in the 1960’s and 1970’s where future stars would perform and great bands would perform on a daily basis. For one low price you could see the performers of the day, take in a movie, experience the diving bell and watch a diving horse jump into a large pool of water. Everyone loved the Steel Pier and all it had to happen.

In 1978, Atlantic City New Jersey took a turn to help save the dying town. It was called legalized gambling. Resorts International, the first casino of many to come to A.C. opened its doors in 1978 and Atlantic City has never turned back. Housing now thirteen casino’s with at least one more in the works, Atlantic City has gone through a reformation like none others.

Along with the Casino’s, Atlantic City has become a dinning and shopping Mecca. Each Casino boast having an unbelievable array of dining options to try to lure in the customers. There are also dining havens such as The Quarter at the Tropicana has an array of all cuisines, and the Pier at Caesars third floor has many fine dining options. Along the Walk, restaurants have opened to please everyone’s taste.

Shopping has become a second choice to gambling in Atlantic City. With the Walk and all the outlet shopping you could imagine, people are coming from near and far to find their favorite brand names at discounted prices. The Pier offers one floor of shopping for the average shopper, while the other floor offers specialty shops you would find in New York City, Paris, LA, or any other upscale shopping district. The Quarter offers unique products while all of the Resorts offer their own specialty shops.

Atlantic City has come a long way from the days of yesteryear. With all it has to offer, it has become one of the most visited areas of the United States. Come to Atlantic City and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!!!

If you are planning a trip to the Jersey Shore, and Atlantic City is your choice of all the wonderful places to stay, you will have to plan well to get in everything you will want to see. With the casinos, beaches, shopping and dining, just to mention a few options, Atlantic City has it all.

When you arrive in Atlantic City, you will want to get checked into your room and start to take everything in. With all the glitz and glamour, you may want to just walk around and take in everything. You could spend several hours just meandering around planning your strategy to your visit. If you cannot control yourself, you may want to hit the slots or tables while taking everything in.

On your first evening you should indulge yourself on a wonderful meal from any of the hundreds of dining establishments. Depending on your budget, you can go simple with any of the themed restaurants such as Johnny Angels, or Rainforest Café, or the Hard Rock Café, to just name a few. If you want fine dining, you’ve come to the right place. With Bobby Flay’s New Restaurant, or Mortons, or Phillips, again just to name a few, you will find dining for every taste. Every major Casino offers at least one fine dining establishment and sometimes even more.

Your second day should be spent on the beach. Enjoy a relaxing day reading a book, or have fun and sun in the Atlantic Ocean. After a day at the beach, relax and get ready for another evening of dining delight. After dinner you may want to listen to a band, or try your luck at the slots.

Day three could be spent as a Spa Day or Golf Day, depending on your taste. You may want to split up and enjoy both. Atlantic City offers the best in relaxing Spa’s and there are over one hundred golf courses in the Atlantic County and Cape May County area.

Your fourth day should be split between the beach and gambling. Enjoy half of the day on the beach and the other trying your luck at the slots and tables.

Day five you should consider shopping. Atlantic City has become a shopping Mecca. With shops at every Resort, and the Pier, located at Caesars, The Quarter at the Tropicana, and The Walk, with every Outlet Shop imaginable, you can spend your whole day looking for treasures.

As your vacation starts to wind down, day six should be spent doing whatever you enjoyed the most since arriving and need one last day doing it. Whether it be the beach, or the gambling, shopping, or eating your way down the boardwalk, you should do whatever gives you the most enjoyment in this glamorous town.

Day seven is spent packing and traveling back home. But you won’t go home empty. You will feel the delight of a fantastic vacation and all the memories you can imagine.

A few years ago, Atlantic City realized that it had to offer more than the excitement of the casino’s and the surf from the ocean to lure visitors in for a longer stay. The city had a master plan that included dining and shopping for the ordinary and the elite.

For those gamblers and non-gamblers, Atlantic City has become a Mecca for shopping. From the Dollar Stores and Sweatshirt sales that line the boardwalk, to the elite shops at the Pier at Caesars, you can find a wide variety to fill almost anyone’s needs.

If you are looking for your inexpensive souvenirs to take back as a reminder of your wonderful vacation, the boardwalk has shops from the Hilton to the Showboat. Here you can find postcards, dice, sweatshirts or any little Atlantic City stamped item you may want to bring home to grandma or Aunt Kathy.

For those who like to shop for bargains at the outlets, “The Walk”, which is located at the foot of the Atlantic City Expressway and Convention Center, is still in the making but offers many outlet shops with great prices. Stores, such as Nautica, Brooks Brothers, Timberland, and Liz Claiborne, just to name a few, line both sides of the street. Parking is normally plentiful with lots located behind the stores and parking available at the Convention Center and nearby Casino’s.

The Quarter, located in the Tropicana Hotel and Casino takes you back to a European village with cobblestone walks and stucco buildings lining the streets. This confined area makes you feel like you are strolling outside with shops and restaurants that will lure you in. Unique shops such as “The Spy Store”, and the “Farmers Almanac” are located with classic shopping from the Discovery Store and Chico’s. Shopping in this relaxed setting makes for a great day.

The newest and most elite shopping experience can be had at the Pier at Caesars. This multi million dollar, three-story pier located over the ocean offers a New York appearance of shops for the rich and famous. Louis Vuitton, Tiffanies, and Michael Kors are just a few of the upscale shops that the Pier has to offer. Other shopping for those who are not as fortunate as some include Brookstone, Anne Taylor, and Tommy Bahama. This new shopping will bring in the high rollers from nearby New York and Philadelphia.

Every Casino also offers their own form of shopping. Specialty shops can be found near the Casino floors or in the restaurant chains such as The Rain Forrest Café, The House of Blues, or The Hard Rock Café. Vacationers enjoy shopping at these specialty shops so they take home a piece of the Atlantic City that can be found no where else.

If you enjoy shopping, Atlantic City has put itself on the map as a place to go. With whatever taste you may have, you will be able to find something to suit your needs. Come for the day, or come and stay.

Over the past several years, golf courses in Cape May and Atlantic County have been developed, making golfing in South Jersey one of many new tourist attractions in the area. Many courses have spent millions of dollars creating experiences for the beginner and experts alike. With many courses in Cape May and Atlantic Counties, South Jersey has been called the “Myrtle Beach” of the North.

To get more exposure to these courses, and bring in more visitors for the golfing experience, the Greater Atlantic City Golf Association and the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority have teamed up to promote seven of the area’s top golf clubs. This conglomerate has found that only two percent of visitors come to our area to golf. With good advertising and promotions, this is expected to rise to five percent, and eventually ten percent. This will bring in a whole new tourist to our area.

Offering Golf packages, along with Casino stays, Cape May getaways, or any of the other vacation hot spots along the jersey shore will bring in a new kind of vacationer. Many avid golfers who will travel hundreds and even thousands of miles to Myrtle Beach or California for a week or few days of intense golfing, will now have the option of coming to South Jersey where you can golf during the day, and then spend an evening with options of Casino’s, fine dining at any of hundreds of bars and restaurants, and a coastline that is one of the best along the eastern coast.

Another expected drawl for golfers is that there will be an increase in three to five years when baby boomers will trade in freeways for fairways. Golfing in South Jersey is fairly new to this area, but the potential is there for many years to come.

Located about a half hour from Atlantic City, The Renault Winery houses a wonderful hotel called “The Tuscany House Hotel”, and inside there are two restaurants for visitors to enjoy. My wife and I decided to try “Josephs”, which was the more moderately priced restaurant for an evening of dining.

Dining at Renault Winery was a very good experience and I would recommend this to many. When we arrived at the Tuscany House Hotel, which is a fairly new hotel that makes you feel like you are in a small Italian city, it gave us a warm welcoming feeling.
Joseph’s made you feel like you were in an authentic Italian restaurant in Tuscany. The restaurants décor was enjoyable with ample room for everyone.

We started our meal with an appetizer of crab cakes, which we shared. We thought it would only be one crab cake, and was pleasantly surprised when two good size cakes were brought to our table. The crab cakes were excellent and we were excited about what the rest of our meal would be.

The presentation of our salads was excellent, and the ingredients fresh, but we wish we had asked for the dressing on the side. My wife had a salad with lettuce, apples, walnuts, Gorgonzola cheese, and vinaigrette dressing. I had a salad similar to a Caesar salad. Both salads had a heavy mayo based dressing that was drenched on the lettuce. We tried to wipe off as much as we could, but the dressing ruined the salads.

My main course was a pine nut encrusted sea bass with a cheese risotto, and my wife dinned on shrimp and crab scampi with a garlic, lemon butter, and white wine sauce. She made the mistake of telling the waiter not to put garlic in it, hence the sauce was bland. This was my wife’s mistake of ordering a garlic dish when she does not care for garlic. The pasta and seafood in the scampi was very good. My Sea Bass and risotto could not have been any better. The flavors came out and the portion was perfect.

The bread that was served with our meal was a crusted white Italian and the server gave us a small bowl of olives with poured olive oil. This was also very good.

For dessert, we shared a homemade Tiramisu, which was probably the best I’ve ever had. You could taste the marscapone cheese and the liquor did not overpower the dessert.

When we arrived for dinner, which was about 5:30 on a weeknight, there were only a few tables seated. When we left, we found the restaurant to be about three quarters full. Our waiter was friendly, but we did not see him often. Towards the end of our meal, we had about a fifteen-minute period between clearing the table and offering us dessert. This may or may not have been deliberate. He did tell us to enjoy and take our time with our meal, which we did.

After coffee and dessert, our bill for the evening with tip came to $120.00. I thought the meal was excellent and would not hesitate to come back again. My wife said, although it was good, her meal was not fantastic, and the salads, which were a nice price, were not good at all. She would come back, but it would not be her first choice.

I recommend Joseph’s at the Tuscany Hotel located at the Renault Winery in Egg Harbor City. You may want to come for a weekend and enjoy the whole uniqueness of the property.

I will not normally write a food review on a chain restaurant, but I read an article in the paper last week that impressed me, not only because it is one of just a few chain restaurants my wife and I enjoy eating at, but also the way this organization handles its employees and promotions. The Bonefish Grill, located at Fire and Tilton Roads in Egg Harbor Township has been open less than two years and has received a reputation of wonderful fresh seafood at a reasonable price.

During the winter months when many of the seasonal seafood restaurants are closed, we will head up the Parkway and eat at the Bonefish Grill. We normally try to make reservations because after 6:00PM on any given day, the place is at full capacity. We usually start our meal with the Bang Bang shrimp, which is a spicy, flavorful coated shrimp that you eat with chopsticks, which makes it very interesting. This appetizer, (which you can also ask for as your main course), is served hot over shredded lettuce, and the taste is wonderful. My wife does not like extreme spicy, but she always helps me devour this tasteful treat.

Most entrees range from $15.00 to $25.00, and come with hot warm bread that you can dip in the pesto oil that your waiter prepares at your table. I’ve tried many of the dishes such as the shrimp and scallops in a butter lemon sauce, Monkfish, Chilean Sea Bass, or one of the many specials they offer. My wife usually has the shrimp and scallops in Asian sauce, or she will choose one of the specials. Besides seafood, the menu also offers chicken, pork, and steak dishes.

On most days, the entrée is served with spaghetti squash that is fabulous, and a choice of potato, rice, or vegetable medley. Since we are all health conscience these days, you can eat a healthy portion of recommended fish and the vegetables will complete a great tasting, healthy meal.

The specialty desserts always look great, but after our appetizer, bread, and meal we are usually full enough to walk away without the sinful delicacies. For two, you can have a wonderful meal for about $70.00 with drinks and tip.

What I read in the newspaper that impressed me was that many of the entry-level employees who start off as dishwashers, bus persons, and prep chefs, work their way up the ladder and end up as managers/owners. Managing partners get a ten percent share of the profits that come from the restaurant. This explains the cleanliness, and friendly atmosphere of the restaurant.

I have enjoyed the Bonefish since it opened almost two years ago. My wife and I both agree that you can get a wonderful meal at a reasonable price and you walk away feeling satisfied both food wise and monetarily. Try the Bonefish. You will be pleasantly surprised.
