Sea Grill Restaurant in Avalon N.J. – Open All Year: A Rarity at the Jersey Shore

If you are a local to Avalon, or an offseason visitor, you will most likely be familiar with The Sea Grill Restaurant, located at 225 21st Street (609)967-5511.The Sea Grill Restaurant is one of very few eating establishments that stay open all year round in Avalon. Off season weekends can be very crowded and although they don’t offer reservations, call ahead seating is available.

The Sea Grill offers a unique way of dining at the Jersey Shore. Once you are seated, and your waitresses take your drink order, you and your party walk up to the back of the restaurant and order your meals from the chef’s behind the stainless steel counters. There is a chalk board on the wall with all of the everyday menu items, and then a smaller chalk board with the specialties for the day. When walking up to order, don’t forget to take your blank check that was left on the table. This is what you offer to the chef when placing your order.

The Sea Grill specializes in Steak and Seafood as the name implies. Everything is ordered ala carte, but all entrees come with the salad bar which is directly behind you as you order. Once you place your order, you grab a plate and create your own salad.

You can order a variety of steaks by the ounce, and seafood such as shrimp, scallops, and local catches are offered in a variety of ways. Chicken and pork dishes are also offered. The menu may seem limited, but once you realize how many different ways you can have the main course, you have plenty of options.

The price range for the Sea Grill ranges from around $20-$40, and these are ala carte prices. Any extra’s other than the salad bar will be included in your tab. Locals and visitors alike visit the Sea Grill for its food, atmosphere, and off season convenience.
