With all that Cape May has to offer, the fall and Victorian Week is one of the most anticipated events of the year in this Cape May County historical town. Not only do you get the charm and quaintness of America’s first seashore resort, you get to experience one of the many daily events that take place in this Jersey Shore City at the southern most point. If you enjoy the Victorian flare, you may want to enjoy one of the many house tours or perhaps a Bed & Breakfast tour that is offered. If food is to your liking, Victorian Week offers many different food tasting events including a Dine-Around tour that is a five course feast where each course is served in one of Cape May’s premier restaurants. You may want to participate in a “Murder Mystery Dinner”, or be a judge in the Chocolate Championship Tour & Tasting where you visit each competitors property and sample their signature chocolate desserts and then vote for your favorite. You can then receive all the chocolate recipe’s via E-mail just for participating.

Ever wonder what it feels like being suspended about 450 feet about the water and taking in all the views that Cape May County and Atlantic County has to offer? You can find out by strapping yourself in a parasail and taking off. It is truly a feeling like no other. Parasailing has become very popular at the Jersey Shore in past years because it is loved by the young and old alike. Many families share this experience together because it takes little effort and only some bravery to soar high above the water. But the rewards are extreme. You can find parasailing up and down the beach resorts all along the Jersey Shore. From Cape May and Wildwood to Beach Haven and Barnaget Bay, tourist and locals are all enjoying the pleasure of soaring above the waters and taking in the views of the coast. Prices vary, but the average price ranges from $70 to $90 per session and the length of time you soar is usually about 15 minutes. For adventure and family fun, try parasailing. As you meander down Harrah’s walkway with it’s stores, restaurants, and “The Pool”, your eyes will catch the stainless steel ovens and prep tables of “Viking Cooking School”. This classroom for people who love to cook is enclosed by glass walls so passerby’s can get a glimpse of the work in progress going on.
With many classes offered, there is something for everyone. Most classes last three hours and include dining on your feast at the end with other classmates. Prices range from $75.00 to $119.00, which is a great deal considering you get to dine on your own creations and learn from a top chef how to prepare courses you will be able to share with family and friends.
When looking at the class selections, there were not many that I would not want to participate in, that is, if I liked to cook. But I am fortunate enough to have a wife that loves to cook, so I’m signing her up. Options include Steak, Roast, & Chop workshop, Italian alfresco dinner party, Date night, a dinner to remember, Fish Cookery, French Dinner Party, and many many more.

When you think of Atlantic City New Jersey and the Gambling capital of the East, you wouldn’t have thoughts of a tropical oasis with warm weather all year round. Well, think again. Harrah’s Casino and Resort, located on the Marina in Atlantic City New Jersey has an indoor “Pool” area like you have never seen.
“The Pool” as it is known is a domed oasis within Harrah’s resort area. This adult only pool is surrounded by lush tropical gardens and cabannas, lounge chairs and everything you would find in a tropical setting. Opened twelve months per year, this domed covered oasis is a balmy tropical temperature every day, regardless of the weather outside. Tropical drinks are served from the bar, and music, if not live bands or DJ’s are piped in from many of the surrounding speakers.

The Jersey Cape is the southernmost tip of New Jersey. The Jersey Cape is also known as Cape May County and has multiple things to offer to tourists. Cape May County is a peninsula that stretches south with the Atlantic Ocean on the east side and the Delaware Bay on the west. The beach resorts have been very popular since the 1800’s and they consist of vacation towns Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Avalon, Stone Harbor, the Wildwoods, and Cape May.

The Jersey Cape has 30 miles of beaches and five main bridges connect them all. Not only will you find pristine beaches, you will also find a wonderland of forests, wetlands, and dunes. There are many protected wildlife areas on the Cape. The wetlands along both Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Coast are a haven for migrating birds.

Along the six beachfront towns, you will find more amusement rides than Disneyland. In Ocean City and Wildwood, you will find the boardwalks the way they were in yesteryear, with restaurants, shops, games of chance, neon lights, and everything that brings you back to a different era. Sea Isle City brought back rides that use to be a major attraction to this resort town. Although the location has changed, (near the main bridge entering Sea Isle), the fun is still the same.

Historians are thrilled to find a rare collection of Victorian Homes. You can find them in most Beach resort towns at the Jersey Cape, but Cape May is by far one of the most impressive collection of Victorian homes in the world. The Wildwood Boardwalk

The World Famous Wildwood Boardwalk has to be experienced to be appreciated. For a child or the child in all of us, the Boardwalk is truly an awe-inspiring experience.

The two-mile long Boardwalk holds 5 gigantic piers chock-full of breath-taking rides and amusements, three of the best roller coasters on the east coast, three action-packed water parks, hundreds of stores, games, restaurants and much, much more.

Morey’s Piers are billed as the largest amusement piers in the world with 3 piers to chose from or enjoy them all.

Adventure Pier has the famous Great White Roller Coaster at a height of 110 feet and a 100 foot drop with speeds pushing it’s 50 MPH maximum what could be more fun. Additionally there is the “Screamin’ Swing”, “The Inverter”, the “Sky Coaster”, “The Spring Shot” and many more hides to enjoy.

Mariner’s Landing Pier offers “The Sea Serpent”, the “Can Am Raceway” a “Climbing Wall” plue an additional 30 some rides and attractions.

Surfside Pier combines kiddie rides, thrill rides and one great Waterpark. The “Formula One Raceway and “The Great Nor’Easter” with its 115 foot height , 95 foot drop and a top speed of 55 MPH are two rides amoung the twenty five plus on this pier. Fans debate which is better the Nor’Easter or the Great White, come and enjoy, decide for yourself.

The Splash Zone Water Park on the boardwalk is another great place for the family to enjoy the day. Mixing adrenaline-pumping thrills with family-style fun is our specialty.

With more than 16 attractions, Splash Zone Water Park offers a variety of experiences for everyone. Adventure seekers can find super soaking thrills riding the white water rapids of The Beast of The East, the only 6-person raft ride on the east coast. Roar through total darkness on The Midnight Run, a twisting, turning enclosed tube slide.

Speed fans, enjoy testing their skills while soaring down the Speed Dominator. Giggle Bay offers an interactive water playground featuring our famous 1000-gallon bucket of water that crashes down, drenching everyone in its path.

Even the smallest water park fans can splash in Zoe Zone, a tiny tykes play area featuring a shallow pool of water, fountains, and soft play equipment. Everyone in the family can enjoy slides, body flumes, water blasters, or a meandering ride through the park on an inner tube in Adventure River.

When you’re not getting drenched in the water, Splash Zone offers sunbathing areas, a picnic facility and mouth watering food at the Zone Grill.

The Boardwalk also plays host to summer weekly fireworks (Fridays at 10:30 PM on the Wildwood Boardwalk) and other family-themed events.

Golfing at the South Jersey Shore

Over the past several years, golf courses in Cape May and Atlantic County have been developed, making golfing in South Jersey one of many new tourist attractions in the area. Many courses have spent millions of dollars creating experiences for the beginner and experts alike. With many courses in Cape May and Atlantic Counties, South Jersey has been called the “Myrtle Beach” of the North.

To get more exposure to these courses, and bring in more visitors for the golfing experience, the Greater Atlantic City Golf Association and the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority have teamed up to promote seven of the area’s top golf clubs. This conglomerate has found that only two percent of visitors come to our area to golf. With good advertising and promotions, this is expected to rise to five percent, and eventually ten percent. This will bring in a whole new tourist to our area.

Offering Golf packages, along with Casino stays, Cape May getaways, or any of the other vacation hot spots along the jersey shore will bring in a new kind of vacationer. Many avid golfers who will travel hundreds and even thousands of miles to Myrtle Beach or California for a week or few days of intense golfing, will now have the option of coming to South Jersey where you can golf during the day, and then spend an evening with options of Casino’s, fine dining at any of hundreds of bars and restaurants, and a coastline that is one of the best along the eastern coast.

Another expected drawl for golfers is that there will be an increase in three to five years when baby boomers will trade in freeways for fairways. Golfing in South Jersey is fairly new to this area, but the potential is there for many years to come.
