There are a wide range of places to stay in Belmar, New Jersey. From cozy B&Bs to clean, efficient motels, you’ll find plenty of accommodations here.

Check out the Mayfair Hotel, located on Ocean Avenue. It is located near the beach and has a spacious outdoor swimming pool if you don’t feel like saltwater. This hotel offers large, comfortable rooms and an array of conveniences and amenities.

For clean, affordable accommodations, check out the Belmar Motor Lodge. It’s just off Route 35 north near the bridge and the Shark River Inlet.

Want a more quaint stay while you’re in Belmar, New Jersey? Visit The Inn at the Shore B&B. This Victorian home was built around 1880 and is located in Belmar, New Jersey, just two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll get all the comforts of home here, with a wraparound porch and antique rockers that provide the perfect place to relax. The guest living room features a fieldstone fireplace. The private and shared bathrooms feature robes and slippers for a super-comfy stay.

Located on 12th Avenue, the Belmar Inn strives recapture the past grandeur of the turn of the century when service was king and the many outstanding small hotels provided gracious attentive services to guests. There is a spacious Victorian-style veranda for relaxing or casual dining. A block away is Carol’s Guesthouse, which offers decent accommodations at an affordable price.

Hop over to nearby Spring Lake, New Jersey, if you want really upscale accommodations. There you’ll find The Chateau Inn & Suites, a restored Victorian inn located four blocks from beach. It overlooks two parks and Spring Lake, which makes for a gorgeous view.

Whether you visit nearby Spring Lake or stay in Belmar, you’ll enjoy everything that Belmar has to offer—all year round.

Nightlife in this Jersey Shore town sizzles. It’s a family town, but it is known for more of a younger, rowdy crowd. If that’s what you’re in for, you’ll find it in Belmar.

Even if you’re not Irish, you’ll enjoy the feel of the towns pubs. From Pat’s Pub to Jack’s Tavern, you’ll always get great beer and drinks served up in a casual environment.

D’Jais Oceanview Bar & Café is a big spot for tourists, as is Bar Anticipation, or Bar A. Since 1959 D’Jais is one of the Jersey Shore’s most talked about venues. D’Jais is the perfect place to cool off after a hot day at the beach or for a hot night on the town. Both venues feature live music, themed events and several bars where you can get a multitude of cocktails. There are also munchies at both bars. Bar A pulls in more of a local crowd and stays vibrant on the off-season here. They have regular events and are visited regularly by some of the top bands at the Shore including Mike Dalton Band and Screaming Broccoli.

Just over the bridge in Neptune, New Jersey, is Headliner, antoher prominent nightclub. It features dance music in the main room, as well as a chill outdoor venue to walk around and drink amidst a beautiful summer evening. Again, it caters to a mostly younger crowd, but offers drink specials and themed events that make nightlife at the Shore such fun.

For a truly laidback crowd, try The Boathouse. It is a very casual laidback bar, with a really cool crowd. Everyone seems very friendly in here and this place can really sizzle at night. It was a great time without the attitude that some bars possess.

There are plenty of smaller venues in Belmar. Most of the restaurants have bars that appeal to older, more sophisticated crowds. Try Paddy Mc’Donald’s Ale House on 18th Avenue or Jack’s Bar & Grill on 10th Avenue for something off the beaten path.

Explore Belmar, New Jersey, and you’re sure to find plenty of places to enjoy nightlife in this very vibrant Jersey Shore destination.

Like most Jersey Shore towns, Belmar is brimming with things to do. In addition to a fun waterfront, this town is vibrant with exciting shops and restaurants as well as buzzing nightlife. Still, it’s a fabulous destination for people of all ages.

The beach is a top destination here. The beach and boardwalk stretch from 1st to 20th avenues. Start your day with an early jog along the tranquil boardwalk, where the sunrise greets a new morning. As the day progresses, you can swim, surf and sail in the ocean, stop by specialty stores along the beach, or just bask in the sun.

Head over to the Belmar Municipal Marina during your next day here. You can hop on a boat and go on a fishing trip or enjoy other activities along the waterfront. Launch a kayak or sunbathe on the calm water beach. There are even tennis courts and a playground, which makes this a great spot to be when you don’t want to hit the beach on a hot day.

Belmar’s downtown area has a day’s worth of exciting shops to visit. There are a mix of restaurants and cafes, too, in addition to several pubs and bars. The area attracts many tourists during the season and provides a quaint shopping experience.

Just south of Belmar is Spring Lake, another top shore destination. If you’re in the are, stop down 3rd Avenue to explore the upscale shops or head over to the stunning beachfront and walk the boardwalk. Nightlife is huge here, and there are many places to explore including The Boathouse, Pat’s Pub and D’Jais. While some of these venues attract a younger crowd, there are event spaces that cater to older folks.

See Belmar by boat to wrap up your week here. Whether you fish or not, you’ll enjoy the spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the town on the Skylarker II, Big Mohawk or Captain Eagle. There are plenty of party boats where you can enjoy cocktails and food and mingle with friends on a nice summer evening. You can cruise out through the Shark River Inlet into the gorgeous Atlantic Ocean and enjoy views the entire way.

With so much to offer, Belmar continues to remain a hotspot at the Jersey Shore.

Belmar, New Jersey did not always have its current name. The town was first named “Ocean Beach” in 1872, but the name was changed in 1889 to Belmar, which is French for “Beautiful Sea.”

The town’s first hotel, The Ocean Beach House, was built in 1873. By 1890, more than 17 hotels were running and catering to hundreds of summer visitors. The town became a well-known summer resort. It has remained so ever since, being known for a large addition of tourists.

About 6,000 people reside in this town during the year and that number soars to more than 60,000 in the summer. The town spans 1.7 square miles. Belmar includes a bustling downtown area with the usual mix of shops. There are several pubs and bars to visit and a few seafood restaurants that continue to draw tourists. Belmar sits along the Shark River, and Avon-by-the-Sea runs along the other side. The inlet opens up into the Atlantic Ocean. The adjacent town, Lake Como, was formerly known as South Belmar. There are three schools in Belmar.

Throughout this charming Jersey Shore municipality, visitors have their choice from a variety of fine accommodations. There are B&Bs and motels, as well as larger venues. From the convenience of hotels to the quaintness and charm of bed and breakfast inns, Belmar‘s accommodations provide something for everyone.

Each year, Belmar is home to many notable events. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a huge happening here. The New Jersey Seafood Festival is also a gigantic event for the town. Notably, Belmar is home to the first and oldest first-aid squad in the United States.

The beach is the real attraction here, and includes a boardwalk with a few shops. Several eateries and large homes line the streets along this strip. The 17th Avenue Beach is a surfer’s delight, and it’s there that the annual Belmar Pro and junior surfing tournaments are hosted. Volleyball tournaments on the sand are also big here during the summer. Any of the town’s events are held at the Taylor Pavilion and the Huisman Gazebo. But the beach is not the only water hotspot–down along Route 35 is the Belmar Marina, which offers plenty of recreation opportunities such as tennis courts, a playground, a marina, kayaking, crabbing, and much more. Driving down the coast, you’ll come into Spring Lake, and if you go north, you can go into Avon-by-the-Sea, which leads up towards Asbury Park.

From superb water sports to artistic outlets to kid-centric fun, it is no wonder this Jersey Shore hub remains a top destination.

If you have ever dined at Sails, or the Waterfront in Somers Point, you know exactly where The Inlet is located. With magnificent views of the Bay and Ocean City, this restaurant/bar is the perfect location for those who not only want good food, but atmosphere with a view.

The Inlet recently opened and offers a great variety of appetizers, sandwiches, dinners, and desserts. Owner Marty Grims, who also owns the Moshulu in Philadelphia, hit a home run with this menu. He realized that a gourmet restaurant with prices of $100.00 or more for a party of two was not what residents and vacationers were looking for.

The menu, which ranges from up to $15.00 for sandwiches and appetizers and a max of $33.00 for the Filet Mignon and Shrimp, (most meals range in the teens to low twenties), gives opportunities to eat at this establishment time and time again. The previous owner of Sails only offered very high-end meals and unfortunately did not get the return business.

My wife and I went to “The Inlet” on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We were pleased to see a menu that offered many different appetizing items, but also would not break the bank. We opted to sit on the deck where there was a cool breeze and we could watch the water traffic in the bay.

Our server, who was fairly new, (but everyone was because of it being new), tried her best to answer our questions, but most answers were wrong. But it did not matter because we enjoyed everything we were served and she was very pleasant. My wife had heard about the Lobster Grill Cheese, which was Maine Lobster, Toasted Brioche, Fontina cheese, Avocado salsa, and Tortilla Soup. She was very pleased with the sandwich, but the soup was a little spicy. I ate, or better yet, drank the soup. It was served in an over sized shot glass and you drank it. A very unique idea and although it looked like a small portion of soup, it was very satisfying.

I ordered the California Roll for an appetizer, which was crabmeat salad in a California roll, with wasabi vinaigrette dabbed on the side. I don’t usually order sushi, but this was outstanding. I could have had another serving and been totally satisfied. For my meal, I was served a Caesar Salad with shrimp. This was also very tasty. The shrimp were very good and the salad dressing was not over bearing. Sometimes Caesar dressing can be extremely strong and rampant with garlic. Both of my entrees were perfect.

When we finished, we ask to see the dessert menu with no intention of ordering from it. To our surprise, the lunch dessert menu was very unique and several items tempted us. This menu offered a Boardwalk Sundae, which had a trio of ice creams served over funnel cake with whipped cream and strawberry and caramel sauces, Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brulee, which was Macadamia shortbread, fresh sliced pineapple, and caramel cotton candy, and several other different but tasty treats. We decided to share the Chocolate Black Magic Cake with a trio of fillings, raspberry sauce, and Jack Daniels Chocolate Ice Cream. We were not disappointed. The cake was very moist, and the toppings were delicious.

Our lunch, along with a cocktail and dessert came to $68.00 for two, but worth every bit of it. We enjoyed watching the scenery, and were informed that bands will be playing on the deck in the evening, weather permitted. Sundays are Reggae night, while other nights would vary. We both look forward to returning to “The Inlet” with family and friends.
