Summer fun at the Jersey Shore should include a day trip for the kids to Raging Waters or Ocean Oasis in Wildwood NJ. Located off exit 4 of the Garden State Parkway, Wildwood, along with it’s boardwalk and “Watch the Tram Car Please”, offers fun in the sun with two water parks owned and operated by Morey’s Pier.

Depending on your personal preferences and situations, both Raging Waters and Ocean Oasis offers different options for those seeking water fun. Raging Waters, located at Schellenger Ave, is the most family friendly of the two parks with many options for those with smaller children. Attractions like Shipwreck Schoals children’s play area, Camp Kidtastrophe interactive play area, and an 1100’ endless lazy river, small children have great opportunities to play all day long.

If the adults want to have some adult fun while the children are playing on the slides, you may want to consider Ocean Oasis. Along with the fun filled watermark rides, this themed park offers a bar, massages, bands, and many other adult themed activities. There may be a little less available for the very young, but they still have the lazy river, and other play areas for the little ones. One slide that is available here as compared to raging waters is the “Shotgun Falls” drop slides that makes you feel like you are free falling.

The price of tickets for 2007 are as follows:

$31.00 All Day Pass to Both Waterparks

$26.00 For a 3-Hour Session

$20.00 For a Morning Session

$15.00 For an After 5:00PM Session

Kids of all ages can have a blast at either of the Raging Waters Themed Parks located in Wildwood New Jersey. All you need to bring is a bathing suit and a good attitude and you will have the day of a lifetime.

Sometimes, the newer houses tend to look rather similar.

The most famous hotel in Sea Isle City is the Victorian-style Colonnade hotel:

Although the Sea Isle Inn is more typical of what beach resorts look like:

All these properties share some characteristics, however. They’re usually within walking distance of the shore and extremely modern in design. Often it’s hard to tell one between the other, due to the prefabricated nature of the building templates.

This, however, hasn’t compromised the quality of the houses and apartments, which regularly fetch prices of a million and over on the market. The premium, one might conclude, is upon the lifestyle of Sea Isle:

The town of Strathmere has come a long way from its humble origins in the 1800s. While still technically a “small” town – the year-round population is about two hundred – the town has become something of a tourist hot-spot of late, with most real estate in the area devoted to holidaymakers during the peak season.

The area is relatively under-developed, with the only beaches in the “Five-Mile” stretch of New Jersey coast that don’t require beach tags.

Strathmere offers lots of vacation rentals thanks to its reliance on tourism, most of which provide a balance of quality and affordability. Summer homes and apartments are available to rent all year round, and it’s not rare to find personal domiciles being subdivided and partially rented to travelers.

Rental is an important component of income for most residents, and the pristine beaches and quiet city center don’t discourage investment in the area.

Summer houses are the norm when you’re in Strathmere, with rents for entire homes ranging from about $800 to $2000 per week, depending on the size, location and furnishing of the place. There are quite a few multimillion-dollar places that get rented out, but even the mid-range houses should be fully equipped with amenities like dishwashers and entertainment electronics.

Apartments and condos can also be found at more affordable rates, suitable for couples and small families. The apartments usually contain basic amenities and have the advantage of extreme proximity to the beaches of the area.

Bookings can often be made quite close to the date, but care should be taken during the peak season when accommodation in both homes and apartments gets scarce. It’s worth checking out realty sites like SeaWinds on a regular basis to get a feel for the market, especially if planning an extended stay.

Before discussing the history of Ludlam Island and Sea Isle City, a little must be said about geography. Ludlam Island is a barrier island in southern New Jersey, upon which Sea Isle City is situated. The island stretches down the eastern side of Cape May County, forming a sort of extended sandbar. Sea Isle City is located in the northern half of the island.

Ludlam Island was purchased by Joseph Ludlam in 1692 from the tribe of King Nummy, whose people used to collect fish and shells on the island’s beaches. The land then remained virtually uninhabited for about two hundred years, as Ludlam was intent on using it for livestock grazing. It essentially acted as free pasture for his cattle and sheep: although mainlanders sometimes came over for recreation, the island remained for the most part a glorified farm-reserve.

It was only in 1880, when Charles K. Landis purchased the island that people began to really take notice of the land. Landis, the undisputed founder of Sea Isle City, had a dream to create a vacation island inspired by Venice’s opulent waterways. The initial plan envisaged Venetian-style canals and waterways for general transport, so expansive was its scale. The times were optimistic ones, with Atlantic City the only other resort in Cape May and the allure of great profits driving Landis on.

Sea Isle City was placed on Ludlam’s Beach, with a railway to the mainland being built in the 1880s and innovative tourist features like boardwalks being put in place. Just like its Italian inspiration, the town has been plagued by coastal storms throughout its history, which eventually led to a promenade replacing the boardwalks. The city has been through financial turmoil, most notably during the Depression, but can now be said with pride to have fulfilled Landis’ idealistic vision of an energetic beach resort.

Considering a beach vacation on the New Jersey shore requires a bit of thought and planning. First, what sort of holiday are you seeking, a glitz-and-glamour week away or a tranquil period of relaxation? Once that’s sorted, what sort of accommodation will suit you best? Will the kids be coming? A host of questions pose themselves to the prospective vacationer.

If you’re looking for a beach vacation full of fast life and excitement, consider the famous casino and opulent marinas of Atlantic City. Here, the pace of life and money never slows – as a result, of course, holidaying costs in the area are a lot higher than the norm.

The family looking to go on vacation might want to check out Avalon, known for its child-friendly activities and pleasant waterfront atmosphere, or even one of the smaller towns like Strathmere.

A balance of the two can be found in Sea Isle City, on the east coast of Cape May County. The city has styled itself as a luxurious beach resort, but prices here are somewhat reasonable compared to other locations and the stretch of beach known as “Five-Mile” is renowned for its pristine condition and peaceful gentility. There’s also a host of activities like sailing and boating, as well as museums and playgrounds that can satisfy both young and old.

The mainstays of accommodation in Sea Isle and most other smaller resort towns are apartment rentals and summer homes (usually let by their local owners). The peak period is during summer months, mainly July and August, and rates drop drastically during off-peak season. Most of these will offer fully-equipped amenities and proximity to the the center of the city, but there’s always a premium on ocean views. Large beach houses can be found to fit families and larger groups, while flats are usually a cheaper option.

Welcome to Historic Victorian Cape May. This is our nations oldest seaside resort, where the feeling of years past is everywhere form the ginger bread of the Pink House to the coastline with its reflections of the lovely ladies of years gone by. Everything about Cape May makes you want to visit here again and again.

Cape May has some of the finest restaurants on the east coast, many of which have won national awards. The types of cuisine are veered from the rich flavors of northern Italy to delicacies fresh from the sea.

While on the island of sights and shells, there are many things to do, one of our finest attractions is the beach. In Cape May you can stroll along the promenade or bask on the beautiful beaches. The sights and colors of the victorian era can be seen inside and out by trolley, walking tours or horse and buggy. Tours are easy to find and run frequently. Cape May lighthouse and the cement sunken ship are also fun attractions to see.

Learn about our rich maritime history and enjoy an unparalleled view of the Cape with a climb to the top of the 1859 Cape May Lighthouse.

This oldest of the seashore resorts makes a great vacation spot year round. The spring is beautiful with its Tulips in bloom all over the island. The fall of the year brings us Victorian Week with many historical and informative sessions and tours.

Visit the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, Cape May’s only Victorian house museum, for a glimpse into life as it was lived more than 100 years ago.

Christmas in Cape May is a sight to be seen, The Bed and breakfasts’ as well as the entire city celebrates Christmas just as the victorians did with millions of lights, beautiful trees and garlands inside and out. Street carolers fill the air with the sounds of Christmas.

Unclear and the exact date Cape May City was established, an act by the New Jersey Assembly in 1697 calls for a road between Cape May and Burlington.

Cape May referred to anything on the Cape. In 1801 ads in the Philadelphia Daily Auroua advertising Cape Island as a seaside resort brought the wealthy from Pennsylvania and Central New Jersey. The Atlantic Hotel placed ads and ran daily trips from 1806-1811. The town really took off as a Seashore Resort after the arrival of steam powered boats, because then trips up and down the Delaware no longer had to be dependent on the tide.

On March 8, 1848, Cape Island was incorporated as the borough of Cape May. Cape May City was a thriving seaside community, attracting many politicians and many wealthy plantation owners. Huge hotels were built, some accommodating as many as 2,000 guests. There were gambling casinos and horse racing on the beach. In 1850, Sen. Abraham Lincoln and family vacationed there.
